Ans. Lencho was a hardworking farmer who lived on the crest of a low hill with his family. His house was the only house in the entire valley. He eagerly waited for a good rain to have a good harvest but hailstorm destroyed his crops, so he needed money to sow his field again and support his family. So, these were his main problems.

2. What did the earth need? Why did Lencho keep looking towards the north-east?

Ans. The earth needed a downpour or at least a shower. Lencho kept looking towards the north-east because the rain clouds were to come from that direction.

3. How did Lencho and his family welcome the rain? When it began to rain?

Ans. When it began to rain, Lencho became very happy. He called the rain drops ‘new coins’ and went out to have the pleasure of feeling the rain on his body. His sons exposed themselves and ran out to collect the frozen pearls.
