Exercise :-
Change the following into Indirect form of speech :
1. I said to Anand, “May you always be happy !”
Indirect – I wished Anand that he might always be happy.
2. She said to me, “May you prosper in life !”
Indirect – She wished me that I might prosper in life.
3. The beggar said to me, ““May you prosper in your venture !”
Indirect – The bigger wished me that I might prosper in my venture.
4. He said to his teacher, “Good morning, sir.”
Indirect – He wished his teacher good morning.
5. She said, “May God bless Hari with a son !”
Indirect – She prayed that God might bless Hari with a son.
6. Ram said to his friend, “May you lead a happy life !”
Indirect – Ram wished his friend that he might lead a happy life.
7. My sister said to me, “May you succeed in your examination !”
Indirect – My sister wished me that I might succeed in my examination.
8. The hermit said, “May you all go to hell! “
Indirect – The hermit cursed that they all might go to hell.
9. Mohan said, “May you have a happy journey !”.
Indirect – Mohan wished that I might have a happy journey.
10. They said to me, “Many happy returns of the day !”
Indirect – They wished me many happy returns of the day.
11. They said, “Long live our Prime Minister !”
Indirect – They wished that their Prime Minister might live long.
12. They said to the couple, “Happy conjugal life !”
Indirect – They wished the couple happy conjugal life.
13. Ravi said, “Many happy returns of the day !”
Indirect – Ravi wished many happy returns of the day.
14. My friend said to me, “Good morning, I am happy to see you !”
Indirect – My friend wished me good morning and told me that he was happy to see me.
